The Gypsy Tent, coming along nicely. I will take video of the inside this week. And the walls in the bedroom are now Buddha Orange. She (Jackie, owner of Fred, Gigi's BF) is painting the rest of the room pink. Then I put the gold stencil. This tent, though, is an 'Easy Up", run and get one on sale: CVS, Walmart, anything like that. 50 bucks and you can have a gazebo. The light brown stuff is a wrap around thing, but you are better off doing what Im going to do which is canvas (cheap at home depot) and put grommets in it. That will keep you protected in winter months. (Get a heater for inside too). All the colorful fabrics are window curtains that were on sale. The sheer ones were 2.00 each! Think outside the box for your Gypsy Tent. Anyone can do this. If you are putting it on dirt then you can use palettes truck drives leave and you get for free. Mara is doing that to hers. She will show you. I will make a video. Of course.
This is Kikki, I met her through Mara. It is her birthday and Mara made her a skull. Kiki is beautiful and does hair and just came back from burning man. I have to film her. Here is the skull
I was just informed by Mara, Sexy Red House Mom, that my coveted canvas is not waterproof. I have to get the rain cloth thing they sell. BAH!
This is outside my bedroom, that's my door on the left. It's a humble beginning but I've longed for something just like this all my life - a door opening from my bedroom letting sun and air in. I've enclosed it most of the way around so the couch part is private. Indian sheets will go over the plastic part so its more pleasing to look at. Then hanging lamps, gypsy lights, more pillows and rugs. I will paint the coffee table (box from Ikea) red so that it blends. The wall hanging that is on the box was a gift from Jennifer Rogers Daniels
I ain't painting anymore I'm hiring someone to finish it. Two days of primer and I'm exhausted. I want it done right and not sloppy and god knows I don't want to do it. I can focus on forming my next class (Les Petit Tarot) that will open up Midnight on Halloween! I am much better use to the world doing something I love than doing something that makes me miserable. and holy crap another coat of primer, and 2 coats of paint color, just for the one room! This is what money is for. So you can be free.
I want it painted asap so I can decorate, that is the fun part. Your surroundings can be your art. Why not live inside the colors of your paintings? If you have an apartment you can pin fabric to the wall. Gotta get away from plain white. White is death.
Not a direct picture but I was in a rush today. I collaged papers onto 2 of the cabinets in my room. Tissue papers, cool napkins I peeled apart, wrapping paper and foil papers. Pretty pretty. Then I primed the rest of the room (on live cam, not sure why). But guess what! The paint that I picked out is somewhat translucent and I need gray primer. So I have to PRIME AGAIN dear lord the whole room again. I will not do it on camera. This way the colors will show up their true tones. My priming is a bit patchy anyway. Another coat will make it solid. And so also, Marie is out the window. I instead want Moroccan Orange and Fuscia in my bedroom with gold stamping. I bought the colors and they are slamming. I love Marie but the more I thought about it, and looking at the pastel white walls, I like a warm room. The bedroom should be full of warmth. Marie is pretty, like candy, but better for a bathroom. (not mine, mine will be red, doing that 2nd).
Bought pretty Gypsy bracelets at Claires. Mara isn't sick anymore yay so we went shopping. I am also moving my wagon into the back row of the park where its bigger, quieter, and has even more trees. I will be living next door to gigi's best friend Fred, an older chihuahua obsessed, and I mean obsessed, with chasing balls. Gigi loves him and sticks her nose up his bum every chance she gets. Not the smartest girl but a passionate one. Like her mum.
When you own your own shit you can do whatever you want. You can do whatever you want at anytime but there are consequences when you are renting. I've waited 42 years to GLUE SHIT ONTO CABINETS and today is the day!
After these are down I have to prime the rest of the walls. Tomorrow when the papers are dry I will sand the cabinets and distress them. Im buying decorative moldings to add too and am considering putting modeling paste on parts of the wall and stamping words into it. That will be tomorrow. All of this has to be before the colored paint, which I have not bought yet. I need to get swatches. I want perfect colors.
This is the rescue in San Diego where I got Finney. Susan does it out of her house and gives her life into saving dogs. Help her out in any way that you can. If it wasn't for her getting him out of the kill shelter and taking him to the doctor I never would have gotten the chance to
get to know his precious life.
