This is a free complimentary sample of my workshop
A LOVELY DREAM.
A real friend walks in when everyone else walks out.

Total pages is 644. It better tie it up at the end or
I will write to the author and tell him he wasted my time.

1) What do you think makes a good friend?
2) What characteristics make your best friend your best friend?
3) What are my assumptions about friendship?
4) A true friend is_____?
5) What are the sources of your beliefs about friendship? Childhood, religious beliefs, literature, how did you form your beliefs?
6) How important are friends in your life, and in what ways have they influenced you?
7) Intimacy versus distance - how much of either do you need?
When drawing mean faces you don't have to worry about perfect placement of features because you don't care if they look pretty. In fact, you are encouraging ugliness. Nothing is uglier than a friend who doesn't believe in you.
Tip: Sharp lines and angles make a face look mean.
In contrast pretty faces are round and soft, which makes them look kind.
Use color as symbolism. Unflattering green around the eyes portray a face that is sick with envy and jealousy.
Create a symbolic library of images that mean something to you. In this painting birds represent squawking. Loud obnoxious noises that do not say anything real.
Black Gesso creates a background stage for paper dolls to squawk all they want.
I could still go further with this page with gel pens and doodle layers of images over and around our photo as a border. Remember, just because it is the end of the art day doesn't mean you can't go back in and add more to pages later.
(click on photo to see it larger)
Even though we have the extra pullout pages you can keep adding pages as much as you want. Make a seam with tape and pages can fold out forever. I might do some journal writing and attach the page with a staple at the very right of this page. I think long writing explaining the images or just what is going on in your life makes your book more meaningful.
